New Mexico Fight for Life: Mission & Impact
New Mexico Fight for Life (NMFFL) advances suicide prevention, awareness, and healing across Santa Fe and the state of New Mexico through education, training, and community outreach. Our work is rooted in compassion, local partnerships, and practical tools for families and organizations.
What We Do in Santa Fe & Across New Mexico
- Education & Awareness: Community talks, school and workplace sessions, and resource guides that reduce stigma and increase help-seeking.
- Training: Practical, evidence-informed workshops for leaders, teachers, and frontline teams to recognize risk and respond safely.
- Outreach & Support: Connections to local services for those grieving a suicide loss and those currently struggling with their mental health.
- Partnerships: Collaboration with Santa Fe nonprofits, businesses, and civic groups to extend impact.
Impact You Make Possible
“There are many nonprofits for suicide prevention, but not many that deal with the aftermath—the survivors, the affected families, especially the immediate families.”
— Ben Gallegos, Elevated Business Systems & NMFFL board
“Right before the holidays, a young mother took her life. We were able to help with utilities and rent—and more importantly, we brought a few hundred dollars’ worth of presents for the young girls, trying to create some normalcy in the most unnormal time.”
— Ben Gallegos
